Description |
Iroquois beaded youth moccasins, ca.1880. Beadwork is a woven pattern in multiple colors and is bordered by alternating rows of blue and white, stitched on a canvas cloth. Cuffs are velvet-lined with a single row of white beads running near the edge, and finished with red cotton twill ties. Hide gathers at the beadwork and appears to be rubbed with a pigment giving it a reddish-brown look. Inside is cloth-lined. |
