Description |
Arapaho beaded moccasins with fringe on outer edge; sinew sewn and made from buffalo hide with rawhide sole. Shoe has a red ochre triangular center strip outlined in white bands of beadwork, each containing 2 triangles in red, white and blue. A similar white beaded band with diagonal lines runs around the base and ankle of the shoe, except for the back of the ankle, where the band changes to red beadwork and a fringe at the heel. Some beads are metalic. Ca 1870. |
